Course No.: HLTAID003
Award: On successful completion, you will be issued with the nationally recognised Statement of Attainment – HLTAID003 Provide first aid.
Description: You MUST have completed the online course BEFORE you book on this practical course.

You will learn the skills and knowledge required to provide a first aid response to a casualty. The unit applies to all workers who may be required to provide a first aid response in a range of situations, include community and workplace settings. Australian Red Cross courses follow the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) guidelines.

Note: It is a requirement of this course that practical demonstration of CPR must be performed on the adult manikin on the floor.

Prerequisites: This course is only for students who have completed the online theory component who need to complete the practical assessment.

Recertification: The recommended industry standard is for this course to be updated every 3 years with the CPR component to be refreshed annually.
Content: - Basic life support (DRSABCD)
- CPR and AED
- Allergic reaction
- Anaphylaxis
- Bleeding and wound care
- Choking and airway obstruction
- Envennomation
- Musculoskeletal injuries: fractures and dislocations, strains and sprains
- Respiratory distress, including astham
- Shock management
- Unconsciousness
Duration: 1 day - face to face
Assessment Method: Competency based and includes demonstration of practical skills, role playing and a quiz.
