Award: On successful completion, you will be issued with the nationally recognised Statement of Attainment – HLTAID002 Provide basic emergency life support
Description: It is a requirement of this course that practical demonstration of CPR must be performed on the floor.

During this course you will learn the skills and knowledge required to recognise and respond to life-threatening emergencies in line with the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) Guidelines.

This unit provide entry level first aid knowledge and skills and is suitable for people who may be required to provide an emergency response in a range of situations, include community and workplace settings.

Recertification: The recommended industry standard to maintain current competency is for this course to be refreshed every 3 years, with CPR component to be refreshed annually.
Content: - Chain of survival
- Assessing the situation
- Basic life support - DRSABCD
- Infection control
- Performing CPR
- Appropriate use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
- Care of the unconcious person
- Allergic reaction
- Anaphylaxis
- Bleeding control
- Choking and airway obstruction
- Respiratory distress, including Asthma
- Shock
- Stroke
Duration: 1 day - face to face
Assessment Method: Assessment is ongoing through demonstration of practical skills, role plays and a quiz.
Prerequisite: There are no prerequisites for this course
