First Aid Course Details
||Basic First Aid
||On successful completion of this course you will be issued with a Statement of Attainment for the nationally recognised units of competency from the Health Training Package -
HLTFA201B Provide basic emergency life support
HLTCPR201B - Perform CPR
||You will learn the knowledge and skills to carry out emergency first aid for some life threatening injuries and illnesses.
Prerequisites: There are no prerequisites for this course.
Recertification: Current industry standard is for this course to be updated every 3 years with the CPR component being updated every 12 months.
Students who require first aid skills for the work place, should complete the HLTFA301C - Apply First Aid (formally known as Senior First Aid - Work Place Level 2)
||- Chain of survival
- Assessing the situation
- Performing CPR
- Demonstrating the use of an automated external defibrillator
- Care of the unconscious person
- Special techniques for children and Infants
- CPR in special circumstances
- Breathing Emergencies including choking and Asthma
- Severe Allergic reaction
- Bleeding and wound care
- Infection control
- Reporting procedures
||Minimum 8 hours
||Competency based. Demonstration of practical skills, role plays, case studies and a written quiz.
